John Isner and Sam Querrey each won their “dead” singles matches on Sunday against Slovakia, giving the United States its first 5-0 Davis Cup victory at home since 2004 and a swing of momentum heading into 2015. Bob & Mike Bryan clinched the victory for the U.S. with their doubles triumph on Saturday, but Isner beat Lukas Lacko (substituted for Martin Klizan), 6-3, 6-0, in 43 minutes, and Querrey defeated a resilient Norbert Gombos, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, on Sunday to give the U.S. a clean sweep of the Slovaks in their Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff tie on an indoor hard court at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

The draw for the 2015 World Group will be held this Thursday in Dubai. With Spain’s loss to Brazil in the World Group Playoffs this weekend, the U.S. is expected to be a seeded nation next year. Based on the current Davis Cup nations rankings, the seeded nations project to be: 1. Czech Republic; 2. Serbia (currently tied with India, 2-2, in a World Group Playoff tie, with play suspended); 3. Argentina; 4. France; 5. Italy; 6. Switzerland; 7. Canada; 8. United States. Should Serbia lose to India, Kazakhstan would receive the final seed.

The 2015 First Round is scheduled for March 6-8. The U.S. would host a home tie against following nations: Czech Republic, France, Switzerland, Japan, Belgium and Croatia, while Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Serbia, India, Brazil and Argentina would host the U.S. A coin toss would decide who hosts between the U.S. and Canada and Kazakhstan.
