Andy Murray secured a spot in the ATP World Tour Finals in November, defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-3 at the BNP Paribas Masters on Thursday. Murray becomes the fifth player to qualify for this year’s finals, behind Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka and Marin Cilic. It is the seventh consecutive season in which the Scot has been a part of the exclusive eight-man field.

He looked like a player on a mission, quickly disposing of the 11th-ranked Dimitrov in just 69 minutes. Murray won 93 percent of his first-serve points, and did not face a break point the entire match.

The Scot worked really hard to get to London, winning three titles in the last five weeks. He missed the tournament last year, despite qualifying, because of back surgery.

“It’s been a strong year after tough, tough surgery and a hard beginning of the year,” said Murray. “It’s a nice way to finish off the year, in London.”

Dimitrov was no match for Murray’s serve, and the loss just about knocks him out of contention for the London finals. Murray will play the winner of the match between the top-seeded Djokovic and Gael Monfils, who play later Thursday, for a spot in the Paris semis.

Canadian Milos Raonic kept his London hopes alive with a 7-5, 7-6(7) win over 11th-seeded Roberto Bautista-Agut. Raonic needs to win the title in Paris this week to qualify for the ATP Finals next month.
