James Blake defeated John McEnroe 7-5 in the one-set final of the Champions Cup at the Agganis Arena at Boston University on Wednesday night, capturing his first title on the 2015 PowerShares Series circuit.

Blake handed Andy Roddick his first loss on the circuit in 2015 in the semifinals, defeating his compatriot 6-3 to reach the final.

McEnroe defeated Todd Martin 6-3 in the other semifinal on Wednesday night. Martin was replacing Jim Courier who had to withdraw from the events this week with a back injury.

The title is the third of Blake’s career on the PowerShares Series circuit, having won two titles in Salt Lake City and Sacramento last season, also beating McEnroe in both of those finals.

Roddick still remains atop the standings this season with 1,600 points. McEnroe, Blake and Australian Mark Philippoussis are all in a tie for second with 800 points.

The next event will be held Thursday night at the Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.

Todd Martin will take on Andy Roddick in the first semifinal, while Blake will play McEnroe.
